I've read other posts about replacing the channel, and have the new one installed with plenty of graphite. I've worked the window up and down by hand, and it's gotten easier, except for the top of the window seating all the way into the channel.

Any advice on getting the top of the window to seat?

How do I know when it is easy enough to attach the regulator?

You need wedge, i use a peice of pine cut to suit, that fits into the channel. the sharp end should be slightly thinner than the glass pane so the channel doesn't get distorted. Then you simply tap it up into the frame.
