I've heard of folks using these in boats. Not sure though but this might be worth exploring?

I'm still interested, though I was hoping to hold off until after my house sells (should be on the market in April, and sold by May), since I was contemplating flying out to see the motor in person, and make sure it turns over... and figure out how to get it prepped for shipping across the country.

You are welcome to come out and see it. It's on a pallet right now but the pallets are starting to suffer from the weather. I could take a video tape of turning the engine over by hand if that would be helpful? I finally made the switch from my old flip phone to a "smart phone" / iphone. I am sure my son or daughter could help with the videotaping. Let me know to save a few bucks on airfare. I can re-palletized it with straps and UShip is the way to go IMO.

I took the plunge of E B A Y ...https://www.ebay.com/itm/302683944074?ul_noapp=true

Not sure what's up with the CL crowd, but had a winner this past weekend. Wanted to trade me a Remington 1100 shot gun and a box of shells to last the entire Zombie Apocalyspe ... Advised not interested in trades but was told this was a great deal for me ... so ... its going on Ebay for now ... and thinking about pulling the CL add.

You might want to look into how you have your motor listed, Greazzer? I had a heck of a time trying to locate it via eBay search.

Last evening I typed, "Mercedes 6.9 engine" and it popped right up on Ebay, #2 listing. So, I am guessing it's listed OK.

Yeah, you're right. It's popping right up now, and I couldn't find it before. Maybe eBay just hadn't indexed it or something, since I was looking just a few hours after you posted it.

I've dropped the price on Ebay because of a promotional offer from Ebay capping their fees. This is probably the lowest I will go on this engine just in case anyone is interested. I will say placing this engine on CL was a boo-boo ...

I've said this before and have been slammed for it, but I still believe that a 6.9 engine has almost no value by itself. Unless 6.9 values rise, and I hope they will of course, very, very few folks will spring for a motor.
If it were me, I would clean it up nice, and mount it on an engine stand in my man cave It really is a glorious thing to behold by itself and will always be a conversation starter. Even better if you can have it functional and fire it up every now and then sans mufflers, when the neighbours throw a rowdy party

My thoughts are headed that way. The real "issue" is my HOA. I've been lucky so far since I parked a car up next to it, but I am waiting for the little red card in the mail. Having said that, I am thinking one AM, zero-dark pretty early, I will clean-up a spot in my somewhat disorganized garage and do exactly that. Do all the surface gaskets, new fuel injectors, clean it up and detail the heck out of it, a few hours a night when it cools down, and try to fire it up.

I cannot disagree. If this was a decent OM617 diesel engine for example, I could get $1000 for it and those engines are a dime a dozen. You would think because of scarcity, it would fetch a higher price. Who knows, installing it in a W123 Coupe ? LOL

Yup I think that will be pretty cool. Don't feel too discouraged, this guy has been trying to sell a new M120 motor for ages up here in Alberta:

https://vancouver.craigslist.ca/van/pts/d/mercedes-benz-120-v12-engine/6622853867.html

I think his price is a bit nuts, but that too will make a fantastic engine on a stand in a man cave or garage. Side by side it will be super cool to have these two behemoth Benz motors.
