I bought this engine anticipating buying a 450SEL 6.9 (car), and the few leads I had on cars fell flat. Instead of branching out into another project, I am putting the engine up for sale. I was told it was a Euro spec engine, although I do not know how to determine that. I do not doubt the previous seller. He's been a long time forum member / respected member on this forum.

I am not looking to make any profit. Just re-coup what I have invested thus far. It is still on a pallet, been covered. PM if interested.

Here are some pictures. Nothing has changed other than the engine being palletized and there's an air cleaner on it.

oops, forgot.

Paid $520.00 for the engine
Shipping $649.20

Total: $1,169.20

Selling price is $1,169.20 plus whatever shipping is (or local pick-up).

Don't think this is a Euro spec motor as I can see the EGR feed pipe in the top pic. Euro spec motors had no smog crap fitted.

I don't see EGR plumbing? Further, I don't see sn aux transmission pump that a us engine would have?

Bottom right of top pic looks to me like the connection for the pipe that runs to the EGR.
Idler pulley is visible in bottom pic which could have been installed after the pump was yanked.
Of course I stand to be corrected but my money is on this being US spec motor.

Isnt the distributor number different btwn ROW and euro?

I have a spare euro engine that was retrofitted with air pump stuff. If you had the exhaust manifolds you could have told that way.

Looking at it again I see oil cooler hose on bottom pic so indeed this looks like Euro with smog junk retrofitted.

I went back and looked at my messages from C.M., the seller, and he indicated his is what occured. That is, smog items were retrofitted to this engine. And looking back at the messages, I really have no basis to doubt him in that this is a Euro engine. I wish it was just stamped "Euro Spec" engine ...

Didn't the various engines have "Euro" or "USA" stamped in orange on the back of one of the cylinder heads? Obviously, if the heads have ever been removed and cleaned this paint will have come off.

I might be interested in this, come Spring time? I just bought a house with a 1k sq ft garage, and once my old house is sold (spending the winter fixing it up), I'm wanting to set the garage up with the ability to run motors on stands so I can test/tune/improve, and then swap it with the 6.9 currently in my SE.

I did have one person come in from Florence, SC who wanted to pay me $600 cash, pick up the motor then, and promised to pay me the remainder next Friday. He showed up with a big truck with boom and was rather insistent as he drove around 75 miles to me. Had to decline. I'm OK with payments but the motor stays until all payments are made in full.

And you're are correct ...

I called his # a few days ago to let him know that I posted the engine in the local CL. His # is disconnected. I am betting he's one of many folks who gets a TracFone and tosses it every few months. Pretty tough to track someone that way ... I did sneak a snappie of his license plate however ... lol
