At this point I am thinking of offering my project car for sale. I have bought a 1974 MB 450 SLC euro model and have started to work on it. As well I have bought a Porsche 911 Covin Kit car/replica, just for fun. I have not such a passion for a 6.9, that is the reason.

My 450 SEL 6.9 #7201 has been imported from Las Vegas autumn 2014, sold as a new in Los Angeles 18.12.1980. Odometer number is 205 000 miles.

Body is rust free, some small rust at door corners, inside. Some scratches that need to be painted; I am planning to have it done in August/September. The car has been resprayed at least once.

Some wear and tear in seats, dash has an additional plastic cover. Otherwise interior is fairly good. Cruise control does not work.

Newly renovated are:
- suspension spheres
- all rubber hoses, excluding strut main hoses, dry sump hoses are barely used good ones
- Michelin tires 215/65 R15, new Maxilite AG Barock wheels with new bolts and center caps
- all fluids, oils and filters
- ball joint rubber bellows, rear strut rubber bellows
- front brake pads
- Automatic air conditioning control unit converted to a electronic Unwired Tools system, works really well
- air conditioning serviced with new R134a gas, new dryer, connectors and oil
- distributor vacuum box, all US-emission devices are disabled
- injectors with rubber seals

I have a set of new door seals and front/rear window seals, they come with the car. A good condition tool kit, original owners manual is in bad shape but a new euro-model manual comes along plus some other documents from the US.

The runs and drives very well. I am willing to drive the car for instance to Germany/central Europe if agreed. I am asking 18 000 euros at the moment. I have paid freight costs plus commission nearly 3000 euros (including all costs) plus import duties and VAT almost 3000 euros to my lovely country.

If nobody wants the car I will complete the work next winter and have it inspected for a Vintage Vehicle in spring 2016 in order to get lower road tax and insurance costs here in Finland.

Phone number is in the ad, I can be reached by email also; kari.pykalainen_at_pp1.inet.fi

I am falling in love with my 450 SLC so I am willing to listen any offers for this.

I have agreed with the paint shop that in September they will attend the few spots that need respraying. I have used the same shop several times and they are providing quality work.

So, before or after the paint work is possible to close the deal. The car runs perfectly now with the new injection nozzles. We got hot weather up here last and the powerful A/C provides a comfortable inside temperature without problems.

I drove a longer distance last Saturday and the riding is smooth with the new Michelin tyres. The fuel consumption seem to have dropped a bit with the new injectors.

My cell phone is 358 4o 737 12 4o.

My 6.9 is stripped enought to be taken to the paint shop on Monday. The rear glass will come off before that. I am hoping to get the car ready mid-October and I will take some detaled photos when finished.

I am still willing to drive the car to Central Europe if anyone is interested enough to cover at least the travel costs.

Work proceeds, today I heard the car has a primer coat already. Photos are from last Friday.

The partial respay went very well. It is impossible to see where the old paint ends and new begins.

Unfortunately I have not taken any more new pictures, I have been a bit busy plus the daylight presence is very short here at the moment (from 9 AM to 3 PM).

The car is still for sale, I am planning to mount all the loose parts during winter and clean up the engine bay. The rear shelf needs re-colouring, I got a tip that there are some colouring agents available, the fabric is ok but it is stained (due to moisture I guess).

The rear glass tinting has been removed now and the glass is in good condition.

The windows are back on the car after the partial re-spray.

I placed an ad on the AutoScout24. I am willing to reduce the price because I am divorcing and I need to get rid of some of my cars, and at the moment I have no motivation to finish this.

I have sold the Covin 911 Replica Kit Car.

I am able to drive the 6.9 to central Europe on the week starting on March 20.

I can come down with the price, all the way to 17 k euros + delivery. I think for a car that works well and has basically no rust it should be reasonable.

I have a chance to drive this to Germany if needed as I plan to buy one daily driver there. So I could bring this closer if anyone was interested?

I have driven this car a few times this season. No other work done except I have had the catalytic converters removed. I will park my 560SEC and 500E in storage for the winter soon and will continue to work on this 6.9.

The car can carry a 55" Sony easily:

Anyhow it is still available if anyone has interest. My plan is to clean the engine bay and change the leather seats to velours option, I managed to find a very nice condition seats. The headrests are still missing...

My car will be shortly inspected by our local "Vintage Car Authorities" in order to have these so called "H-plates".

Anyhow I am still happy to sell this rust-free car. I have a possibility to deliver this by driving it to Europe-mainland if anyone is interested, car is in good running and driving condition. Needs just to be agreed.

The headrests are still being re-upholstered. I know the door panels need the Velours but I do not want to start to dismantle the brittle plastic material panels...

Today I was awarded our national H-approval, what we call is the MR-status (museorekisteröinti). Anyhow the car is relieved from the road tax and gets only bi-annual MOT plus I pay only a fraction of the mandatory road insurance.

This car is still for sale, or alternatively I can let my 500E go also.

For some reason the Autoscout24 ad seems not to be active. Annyhow here are the latest pictures: https://www.nettiauto.com/mercedes-benz/450/8797251

I am willing to sell this car for less than 20k euros. The car is very solid and runs good. Of course it is not a concours quality but the body shell and doors are rust free due to its history in California and Nevada. I have the original leather seats that come with the car if desired.

I have a chance to drive this to Central Europe if agreed.

I am still happy to sell this car as I would like to buy a roadster, for me and my companion to enjoy life.

I have tried to sell this on various sites, and here is the latest service provider who can inspect, report, be a middle-man and finally deliver the car to anywhere: https://koskinimport.com/en/product/mercedes-benz-450-sel-6-9/

The car runs well; this season I have driven two a bit longer trips plus few days daily commuting. The cruise control is still out of order; I was wondering how to check the vacuum servo...

Anyhow the selling price will be lower than my asking, of course.
