I understand the non-return valves are NLA. About six months ago I bought a new old stock unit in Germany but it is leaking badly already and despite careful cleaning, just will not seal.

With so many trucks and buses on the road using air suspension and air braking systems, all of which utilise an air storage tank, there must be plenty of alternative valves out there that could be used in a 6.3 (or 600).

Has anyone successfully identified an alternative and if so, could you give me a steer please?

Hi Ian,

Have you asked Tom Hansen?

Is the part number you're after 000 327 16 25?

There is a part listed on the online parts manual:- 000 327 26 25 "Valve Suspension" for W109's and is available. I wonder if it's a replacement?

Ian,
That valve is very simple. It really should be easily rebuilt. There are two O rings and a metal to metal seal. It is a long time since I had one apart, but my memory is that it was one of the simplest jobs I have done on one of my 6.3's. I believe that I am correct in saying that the metal to metal seal is similar to the cold start injectors. If the NOS one you bought is leaking, I would not be put off by that any more than the leaking axle valve you bought. If you have your original valve, I would suggest that you disassemble it and fix it yourself by honing the metal to metal components and checking that it seals. Then you can put it back in and have a working setup with the other one as a spare.

Thanks for the advice Art, I'll give it a go. We have had the top part off and there seems to be a conical rubber part that is supposed to seat against a metal housing. There was some muck in mine so we cleaned it thinking that would fix it, but it hasn't. I think we will take the whole valve out and strip it down as you suggest.

The check valve has a rubber nipple & spring inside that does the sealing. The nipple cracks & leaks.

I've used a modern bosch replacement plus a couple of thread adapters on one of my cars to good effect.
There is a link below.
I've had a bit of a hunt for the internals to refurbish the original, but to no satisfaction yet.

...and come to think of it, this Bosch fuel check valve looks pretty close to the original

Here's a couple of parts to consider - don't know how they would handle the pressure

Bosch 1587010004 Fuel Pump Check Valve

Bosch 1587010533 Fuel Pump Check Valve
