Did Ford sell AM?

Yes, in 2007 Aston Martin was bought from Ford by a businessman called John Sinders with help from some Kuwaiti money. Ford still holds an 8% stake.

That Hong Kong Roller makes the 600 look small.

Thats a Bentley,I think they are smaller than a 600 (perspective?) but they certainly have the same road presence as a 600. That building looks like the place that has an underground car park as a used car lot ,full of Mercedes.

I wondered if it was a Bentley, but with the modern retracting bonnet emblem not visible to help me, I was too ignorant to know the difference.

I've been watching a good DVD on the Bee Gees called "This is where I came in" made in 2001, 2 years before Maurice died from small intestinal volvulus. About 42 minutes in, in chapter 3, there is film of them in a 6 door Pullman. It is black and totally covered in fans, so I couldn't see much else. At about 45 minutes in, there is film taken inside the car. At about 50 minutes into the video, ther is film of the 3 of them getting back together. Barry and Maurice are filmed getting into RR's, but Robin is filmed getting into the left front seat of a W108 or W109, powder blue, last 2 digits of the UK plate are HE as I recall, and driving to the reunion. I can't see the rear badge and I wasn't sure if it was an SE or an SEL or even if it was a W108 or a W109 even after watching it a few times. The video certainly suggested it was his personal car. I have no idea whether the 600 was theirs or hired, but it seemed to be filmed in the UK. All Australians, particularly those from Brisbane, have a bit of a soft spot for the group seeing they started their careers and had their first hit record here. They lived in a suburb of Brisbane where Ron and I live which has since been demolished and turned into the end of the Brisbane Airport runway. It was one of the least prestigious suburbs in the city. A local DJ by the name of Bill Gates who was my favourite DJ when I was young was the one who gave them the name, Bee Gees, his initials as well as Barry's. A bit of local trivia.

"They lived in a suburb of Brisbane where Ron and I live which has since been demolished and turned into the end of the Brisbane Airport runway."

I had to re-read this sentence a couple of times, as it appears that the suburb which you and Ron inhabit has been turned into the end of the Brisbane Airport runway...

Then I figured out that you're referring to you and Ron living in Brisbane.

It's still early over here...

On another matter - it has always been my understanding that Bee Gee's was actually for B and G, phonetically spelled out. BG was for "Brother's Gibb", or so I was told.

BTW, Tin and I were talking the other day and we couldn't be sure. We know that Maurice is gone, and so is baby-brother Andy, but what about the remaining two - Barry and Robin?

Yep,
Brothers Gibb and their mother's initials as well, so plenty of reasons. It was Bill Gates who promoted them and suggested the name. Bill was on radio station 4BH in those days as best I recall and played the best pop music in Brisbane back in the 1950's and early 60's. He went missing from Brisbane radio for a number of years but then turned up again years later on the ABC (Australian Broadcasting Commission - the local equivalent of the BBC government radio). As far as I know he is still alive and well. If you get hold of the DVD, there is a photo of Bill Gates in the section on their early career as well as testimony to his involvement which was common knowledge here when they were first starting out on local radio and TV.

Barry and Robin are still about and last performed together earlier this year (May) on American Idol.

I recently met a man involved with the two Landaulets that are now in North Korea. Both of these cars where restored in California and bought by North Korea in the late '80s. Sorry Paul, no VIN information on these cars yet, but the guy has the CA license plate numbers for both of these cars somewhere so that might be a way to find the VINs. He just has to find the pictures.

If you aren't constantly impressed with your car, then it needs fixing.
