Yeah, it actually has been for sale now for as long as I can remember. In fact, I think it has been for sale for about 4 months or more. Its in nice shape, great interior incuding a center flip down LCD monitor and new leather. The wood looks great. I have also seen it on a couple of other sites for sale.

Hm, the paperwork for my car shows a certain "Citoyen President de la Republique Mobutu Sese Seko - Kinshasa" as the first owner :-) The 600 book by H. Hofner shows this 1965 car as the first to be delivered to Zaire... with 15 more that followed between 1967 and 1977. Gues he kind of liked them

Are you sure the King Of Tonga has/had a 600? ,I know he used to keep a Checker(!!!) in Auckland for when he made one his frequent visits.

In the '70s I went to a really fancy English boarding school, and I remember every year on parent's day, some would make it a full on contest to out-do the other parents for the poshest ride. My friend Jonathan Bentley (who went on to become a producer at Top Gear) and I, would wander around the car parking fields just to gawk at the fancy cars. I remember seeing lots of 600s, but I couldn't put any celebrity names to any of them. I do remember seeing Adnan Khashoggi tooling around in a Rolls Cloud III, and Chief Ashamu of Nigeria in a pre-war Rolls Phantom.
Of course it was tough to out-impress the few who would invariably turn up by helicopter. |
