Ron B - if you are reading this you know this car!

Thank you very much.

Here are the pics:

Until now, those pics were =according the info I got in the past= wrongly classified as 000349. So I had to rectify the names in my database ....

@ Chris : uploading pics is only accepted for files below 80Kb. So the files were only a little to big.

I like that color on the 600. It looks a bit to light to be 542G dunkelrot. What is the paint code on that 600?

As far as my info reaches it should be 460,
but I don't know for sure, because we have no datacard from it (..yet..) neighter if that is the still original colour.

After I got a pic of the dataplate, it now is clear that that colour is 573.

According to my information, this was the first 600 delivered to Australia. The original registration certificate which Chris sent a copy of to Paul has the same owner's name as appears on the list I obtained access to many years ago, so there is no doubt it is the same car. It underwent a rebuild of its automatic transmission and several other changes at factory expense in late 1965.

Gentlemen,

as I have said to Art and Paul I am amazed at the information you have on this car.
Ron, the photos were taken a couple of months ago so it is still the original colour, but it has probably had a few touch ups over the years.
Paul, if your information says colour code 460 then it is most likely that's what it is.

As the car has passed thru' three generations of the family there is quite a bit of information that I don't have to hand.

I had always believed that this was the first Australian delivered car and Art has confirmed this.

Thanks for your interest.
Kind regards,
Chris

Hi Chris,

After that we may conclude that you have a "remarkable" car, ic the first Autralian car and above all in THIRD generation Family-ownership, we would like to get more info:

On the bridge in front of the radiator, there should be a metalplate with codes. We would like to see a pic of that.

Also you can ask a 'datacard' via the Mercedes-dealer, which alows you to see how the car was build and which extra's it got.
I would like to get a copy of that to "study".

Thanks Paul,

As I mentioned the car is in a storage facility - strangely enough the car is not a "daily driver"!! I will try to get further information next week and I have a couple of contacts with MB, Melbourne who may be able to help me out with a data card or build sheet.
Thanks again for your interest.

Cheers,
Chris

Nice line up. Maybe Chris can tell us which of them still exist.

Paul, your detective work made me check something and, as a result, I have a picture of 100.012 22 000157. It is black and white, but better than nothing at this stage. On that early Australian list, 157 is owned by R Irish and the caption from this old picture from a local M-B publication says that Fred Murray drove Sir Ronald Irish around. I'd never thought to put the two together before.

Hi Art,

The 300d is at Gullwing Motors in Melbourne. Bought by the proprietor as a resotorer. Last seen several months ago - "somewhat" dismantled!

The 230 SL was acquired by Lindsay Fox. The 190 was last seen heading to the Gold Coast many, many, many years ago. Unfortunately, the whereabouts or health of the 300SE is unknown as it was sold back in the late 60's or early 70's.

Is that curvy honeycomb backdrop the Peter's Ice Cream factory in Mulgrave (Melbourne)? Was it something more swanky in it's day?
