I get that when I use FireFox as my browser, but not when I use Internet Explorer. I asked the same question in the past without an answer. I suspect it has something to do with how the browser is configured, but I am a computer ignoramus. Hopefully someone will have an answer.

To Paul-NL

Hi Paul,

I am overwhelmed by your posts on this topic. I have been a car nut for almost all my life and your posts never cease to amaze me.

Here is a little contribution of mine, although I don't know if it is new information to you.

One of my all time favorite cars is the MB 600. As a child, I had a neighbor who had one, and I had a toy one. My model was a Dinky Toys car that I think was red and had working windshield wipers.

Some years ago, I used to constantly look at some of my favorite cars for auction on eBay. Every time I saw one on eBay, I used to look at all the pictures and, if it included a picture of the VIN plate, I used to write down the VIN and date of build, and also if it was a U.S. model. I just looked up my records, and this is what I have on the 600:

W 100
600
100.012-12-001442 ??/?? '70 U.S.
100.012-12-001822 12/70 '71 U.S.
100.012-12-001926 06/72 '71 U.S.
100.012-12-002102 2/72 '72 U.S.
100.012-12-002205 7/72 '72 U.S.

600 Pullman 4-door
100.014-12-001976 8/71 '71 U.S.

I don't know if this helps with the info you are trying to gather, but notice that all the VINs I collected happen to be U.S. models. The VIN and build date are copied from the VIN plate on the car. The model year I wrote is what the seller was claiming it to be.

Regards,
MercFan

Thank you MercFan,

That is exact what I am doing for each car I find.
I started when our Webmaster asked for help for the M100-registery several years ago.

The first cars went really quick, but the more you have collected, the difficulter it is to find new ones.
Helpfull is a datasheed in Excel, where I notice the Vin and if possible the colour, interior, motornumber, productionnumber and Licenseplate. That makes it easier to recognize cars that are already in the collection.

If I find one I download every picture and rename it by adding its Vin. Then all pics are stored in a directory. Because the pics and other info are now over the 10 Giga, I created some subdirectorys to be able to find them back easier.

I have some very reliable co-collectors and we exchange everything, except when the owner has vorbidden to do so.

I have learned a lot by reading and posting on this website. And that is of course the goal of this "club" . It is just that my englisch is not very good (my german is better), but I try for the benefit of the group. Every posting can be an eye-opener for an other member / reader, whether he want to restore or just is interested.

So let us go on by collecting everything over this unique car.
I hope it is usefull. We are doing our best.

While there is so much info to get out of the datacards, we try also to collect them. That helps us again in finding new facts, as for example the special options that have no code but are really rare clientwishes, the so called KW-options.

And when you find any new info about any car, then keep us informed so we can share everything ... And that is finally the power of this web, where [ALMOST un-]endless knowledge is available for this group.
