found this pic on a tjech website:

http://en.mercedes-benz-club.net/gallery_detail.php?id=1621&ddlb_model=88

There is stated it is from a 6d LWB ....

BUT, studying that picture, I was wondering if that was from a LWB ....

Why ???
Because 6 doors have foldingseats and then there should not be the wood like foldingtables ....
Secondly, those 6 doors cars have never hydraulic levelers in the middle doors ( as far as I know [for this moment]... at least: I have not any pics from any 6 door that made an exception for this)

So it is defenitly no 4 door and no 6 door ...
Compare:

Then we are talking about a SWB with divider ....

That pic is somehow familiar .... BUT where have I seen that ??????
Digging in my archive for some time and then I got the idea to see in the older factory selling folders ........

I got then through the several pages and then :

See the right side upper and middle pic .....

BUT THAT CAR sounds also familiar ......

After studying the pics and comparing, that particular car is the car from the King of Lybia, ex karl Schreiners and now in hands of the Classic Centre US ....
So car and Vin is now KNOWN ......

That is how we are doing this

Do you have this VIN 100-012-22-001085

I will attach a pic in next email.

The car is located in Sydney, NSW and belongs to a friend of mine, he's had it for about 25 years. It's a short wheelbase car.

It also has this identification on another plate.

306 172G 100012 22 9 5 00086 800 13

Any help with deciphering these numbers this would be greatly appreciated by my friend, who also asked me if I could find out how many 600's are still driveable around the world.

Regards, Phil

Hi Phil,

Thank you very much for that new Vin, which is the 159th from the 342 produced RHD (SWB+LWB) cars.
This car is new for our registery and I have already noticed that number in our database. When I recieve a / some pic(s) that car can also be added as an identified one .....
From the 1411 known Vin we have now around 1000 cars identified with at least one picture.

About the (older type of) dataplate (so I am not 100% sure that I translate it right):
306 airconditioning (This are the extra's for which the body had to be changed)
172 G --- antricitegrey from Glasurit
100012 cartype 22 RHD and Automatic
9 delivered new to Australia

5 unknown to me
00086 Productionnumber from that year in the factory
80013 when I remember right this should be the Aufbaunumber from the body
