Paul,

I have that photograph somewhere in a book or a brochure and have been aware of it for many years. I believe that it is a factory photograph used in their advertising when the car first came out. I have always presumed it to be a factory car without ever considering the significance of the number plate. I'll see if I can find it.

Art,

please investigate, then I haven't a SWB connected to his name.

here some SWB-dividercars which are not identified yet ...

ex USA-car with Chevy or Ford V8

Hi
I did not read all posts here to see , if this has been identified.
I remember looking at an early 600 a 1965 with a Ford V8 5.0 and Ford front axle spindles and coil springs.
But the crown jewel, get this, a pimped out rear window and canvas/vinyl roof. I was about to strangle the guy.
It was in San Fernando , CA about a decade ago.
If I remember correctly # 000056.

FYI

Alex

Hi Alex,

Thank you very very much for that GREAT info.

I have added that car in the the overview with some additional pics.

The car is now in Germany.

It is a SGS-car or a Car&Driver coachworkcar, later in its life transformed with a Ford V8.

i wonder about the intelligence of those wjho fit those Ford MII front ends into bigger cars . The MII front end was designed for the Mustang II and Ford Cortina Mk3 ...light weight cars to be sure. Hopefully that cancer has been removed from that car.

What the heck, try to stuff a MB 6.9 liter V8 in it. What a machine that would be..

I don't know what you mean by this ??

I saw the car in a body and paint shop and the 'gentleman' showing me the car was the proud designer and craftsman of these alter(c)ations. Therefore my comment.

Hi Paul

What I was saying is, that I believe no other than that crazed Auto-body-shop owner can be credited with the attrocities to that early car. Of course I cannot verify that other than him telling me that and the car being half assembled when I looked at it .
He was still trying to figure out the electric windows and the interior was only half finished.
I think he was running out of money and interest, but(t) was to far into it.
That's all

Alex

See this thread:

http://www.m-100.cc/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4723&SearchTerms=coach

[blue]The electric Rolls Royce mirrors on the outside of the door is typical for SGS
And the back window seems for me typical for CAR&Driver.

All the other changes will be sure have done by that american fellow.

Why would somebody change to those RR-mirrors, when he went already out of money ??[/

What interests me is that the Ford engine is not as Torquey as a m100 and does it have enough power to move the car easily? I'll bet it doesn't and will be working hard .

Found again a new one and is added in the overview.

001800:

That are 42 identified divider cars
and 3 Vins without identifying picture(s)
one ex divider car, that has been transformed to the speedstar.
and several pictures from divider cars (about 20) without / unknown VIN.

This car came from the US, Hollywood to Germany and seems to be NOT an US-car but an italian car.
We will investigate further.

Giovanni Verzoletto could catch/become the datacard and now is clear the car is Italian delivered and in later years sold to the US ..
Mistery solved
Thanks for the help
