The 600 display was outstanding in my view, partly restored car on a ramp, joined together running gear, bare bodyshell and a rebuilt engine - hugely interesting.

Bit unimpressed with the 6.3 AMG boasting 320hp which they had standing on R rated tyres though.

The 600 got top billing on the website...interesting.

I read the text and it said that Kemp Museum sold a gullwing for 410,000 Euros.

Are you sure about that Ian?

Since 1991 tire speed ratings are listed as part of the service description such as "97H", while the letter "R" in the size designation such as "215/70R14" stands for "radial", and is not a speed rating. There actually is an "R" speed rating, but it is used only for truck tires.

Hmmm, maybe I'm wrong then, but I understand the term to be still used here. For example, my 6.3 is currently on Falken 205 R 14 tyres which I'm not happy about, so I am upgrading them to the correct VR 150mph tyres soon. (Not that I am planning to drive at 150mph all the time you understand!). The only ones I can find are Michelin XWX 205 VR 14 which are horribly expensive and Vredestein which do the size and rating in their classic range at a much more reasonable cost. (They were at the far end of Hall 3, I don't know if you got that far)

Look for the speed rating following the size indication, something like "205/70R14 97S"

It's true that the 14 inch options are pretty slim now. While it is slightly undersized, in Europe you can get the Fulda Carat Assuro in 205/70R14 with a V speed rating. I think this is what was on the green AMG car.

Didn't Gerry VZ find a green 6.3 with AMG markings on the cams, etc. a while ago in Bayern?

(it used to be at this link:
http://homepage.mac.com/gerryvz/PhotoAlbum56.html)

Wonder if this is the same car? Cant be many genuine original AMG fettled 6.3's.

I know the prior owner who sold the car to M-B recently. He is the same person who owned that dark blue AMG 6.9 that was listed at the Classic Center for a while. He also owns this AMG 6.8 race car replica, and used to own the green 600 SWB that Jeremy Clarkson now has.
