I talked to my friend Mark Langston at Stu Ritter Mercedes here in Denver. The parts car is actually Stu's old race car, a 1970 6.3 with the VIN of 10901812006265. It was parked in about 2000, but was running at that time. It has sat outside, but in the fenced in portion of the yard, so it has not been vandalized. Front and rear bumpers gone, as are the fog lights and the majority of the interior. What is present is the engine, transmission, rearend, air suspension, all that kind of thing. Mark thinks it would start, but that's just based on the fact that it ran before, but it has not been started since. No title. The number there is 303 698 2431, ask for Mark. He owns the business, he bought it from Stu Ritter and kept the name the same, I think some of the folks are familiar with these names on the board. Give him a call!

Yes, this is for that person, as well as others that might need things! I thought I remembered that Mark had a 6.3 rear end on a pallet, turns out that particular piece was a non-6.3 assembly. The rear in this one is good, however, so maybe this will still be helpful to our member in need!

No, but it does have a 6.8 liter AMG-built motor in it.

Just kidding. Sorry.

No roll cage. The story goes that it would eat an entire set of front brake pads in a single session on one of our local 1.5 mile road courses! It's basically a stock, but mildly gutted, 6.3 as I understand it. Window switches in the center console, Park up at the top. Sitting on the ground on 14 inch Bundt alloys. I'll take some pictures of it and post them when the snow clears!

And Mark's email address is mclangston@att.net for those "round the worlders" that wanted to contact him that way! Good luck.

Brad - I've talked to Mark about this car in the past and almost bought it except I found a more complete car here in Steamboat. It's still on my list of things to buy when my building is done this Spring.

You are not buying???

Hello Francis!

Did you manage to get the garage started this fall?

On Stu Ritter's former 6.3: 7 years sitting: Don't try to start it before you drain the fuel and blow the fuel lines. On a parts car, this is all I'd do. Then I'd only add 5 gallons of fuel. Keep it running monthly until that engine is needed, OR, you drain and box the engine on a pallet. This example would make a great running gear donator.
Anyone ever drive a 6.3 with no interior? What a drive!!!!!

Francis, yes I have thought about buying it- my problem is I have no place to store a car in that condition. Belive me, I know that if somebody buys it and it gets shipped off, I will instantly hear the sound of my rear end exploding, the injection pump turning into a glowing piece of German magma, or my transmission shifting it's last gear. Murphy's Law!

Put a good car cover on it and you can store it here (sorry, but it would have to be outside!).

I don't know if I posted it previously or not, but I got a ratty 6.3 as part of the deal on the 600. That car is not here yet (a long story), but when it does get here, it will also be outside. This way it would have company.

Chris, any chance of you parting with the ring gear and pinion from the rear of the ratty 6.3?

I'll have to think about that. I'm a little reluctant to pull parts from a complete rear axle. I also have a "left half" I got from somewhere years ago, and that would feel easier to disassemble. In case I forget, remind me in a day or two.

Found this old thread still relevant; the Denver area parts car described by Brad is going to the crusher unless someone acts...contact me if you are interested and I can tell you more or just call Mark directly - find his info in Brad's post. I would think it's worth saving and if I were not away from my home in CO I might have taken it - it's at least good for a number of parts.
