Here's the opening scene from the 1969 movie The Magic Christian starring Ringo Starr and Peter Sellers. About half way through you see Sellers driving what was actually Starr's 600 LWB. Last I heard the car is in Australia.

Mike:

Thanks for that link; I've actually never seen that movie, believe it or not!

One: Why would Mr. "Important" drive himself in a Pullman??
Two: I love the license plate: "MMY 600C"
Three: I'm going to rethink my opinion of Badfinger
Four: I'm going to rent "The Magic Christian"

Badfinger were awesome, the movie, not quite so awesome.

People have suggested that the MMY part of Ringo's vanity plate was for Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, who had been The Beatles' spiritual advisor.

Some great names in the movie too,John Cleese ,Raquel WelchRoman Polnanski(alleged former 6.3 owner) Christopher lee .
But I liked the sticker in the back window..
"TOGETHER WE CHOSE A MERCEDES" .Was that from the dealers or a Peter Sellers Joke?
Badfinger..I haven't hear any of their music for decades .I'll have to down load a bit now to catch .

...There are old cars, and then there are Classics..(Mercedes Benz Ad. 1999)

It seems that that Pullmann in the film is not Ringo's.
Ringo's car was a rust-red-brown 6 door with six doorhandles.

The car in the film MMY 600C has only 4 doorhandles.

Actualy ringo's 6door:

and had the licenseplate PRE 732F

Four doorhandles on the MMY 600C:

I have now the vin of ringo's car, but two auctionwebsites have both a different vin for the same car, which differs 1 point, so there will be a typemismatch in one of them, but which is now the real one ?????

Tracking the whereabouts of the various Beatle owned cars gets pretty complicated. The white Lennon Pullmann BPH600H, was sold by Lennon to George Harrison, who then went on to sell it to Mary Wilson of the Supremes. At some point it was painted black, so perhaps that is the car in the Magic Christian clip. At that time in Britain, people would also change the 'cherished' number plates on their cars regularly, moving them from car to car.

Ringo also owned a silver 600 SWB, and Harrison owned a white 600 SWB. You can see them both in this clip with their owners, along with Lennon's famous Rolls Phantom V, after it has been changed from black to white, but before it got the psychedelic paint.

Go in about 1:20 in the clip.

Adding to the confusion, is this excerpt from Beatles Press secretary Alistair Taylor's book, describing Harrison taking delivery of a black 600.

Off went George to the main Rolls-Royce dealers in London and wandered into the showroom. There in front of him was just the model he wanted, so he reached for his checkbook and went up to the salesman. "That's a great car. I'll have that". The salesman knew all the details of what George wanted and told him the price. Fine. There was only one snag. "There will be a fourteen month wait for delivery, sir". "You're kidding!" gasped George. "That one sitting there will do me fine. Just go and tax it and I'll be in to pick it up in a day or two". George didn't quite understand the years of tradition behind that salesman's refusal to sell him him a Rolls-Royce over the counter. Not even for a Beatle will Rolls-Royce make an exception. What if the Beatles were to say that there'll be a fourteen month delivery time on their new single?

George's chauffeur pulled his sleeve and led him off to a corner. "Let's take a drive and I'll show you a car". George allowed himself to be driven down the Great West Road towards Heathrow until they arrived at the main import center for Mercedes. Those guys were definitely not going to let George leave without a new car. "The chauffeur will do most of the driving, but I'll drive myself as much as possible", replied George. "In that case Mr. Harrison, we'll contour the driving seat to your measurements. We've got to allow five days for that, so we'll deliver it to Esher in six days time". Mercedes was as good as its word. Six days later, to the minute, the gigantic black Mercedes 600 turned into the grounds at Kinfauns, contoured seat and all. Perfection. Like anyone with a new car, George wanted to show it off, so he phoned Ringo and said, "Come on over and see what I've just bought".
